Our upcoming co-production, Antigone, with Pilot Theatre and Theatre Royal Stratford East takes Sophocles’ play and, thanks to an adaptation by acclaimed playwright Roy Williams, places it into a contemporary setting and brings this classic tale up-to-date. A timeless story about loyalty and truth, about how we make meaning out of life and death and what in the end really does matter.

Derby Theatre Youth Theatre open their double bill of The Willow Pattern/The Chrysalids tomorrow! Two plays in one evening, unified by the themes of freedom and sacrifice. Our older group present The Chrysalids.

Written by John Wyndham
Adapted by David Harrower
Directed by Sarah Brigham

A powerful story set in the post-nuclear world, a place divided into ‘perfect’ humans and ‘mutants’. A young hero and his friends are growing up in fear, hoping that nobody will ever know of their unique power of telepathy. Soon they face a choice: wait for eventual discovery, or flee to the terrifying and mutable badlands.
