Call Out: two writing commissions for digital works (one integrated BSL and one audio)

Derby Theatre are looking to commission two short digital works, following the success of All The Places We Could Travel by Rommi Smith and Not That Kind of Film by Leo Skilbeck.

Commission One - with Integrated BSL

Commission One should be a digital work of 5-10 minutes with integrated BSL.

The piece can be on a subject matter of your choosing and suitable to be broadcast on Derby Theatre's communication channels to a broad audience for free.

Fee

The fee for this commission is 6K to include all costs of writing/producing the work. There is additional money to caption the final film.

Commission Two - Audio

Commission Two should be an audio work of 5-10 minutes that integrates audio description within the text.

The piece can be on a subject matter of your choosing and suitable to be broadcast on Derby Theatre's communication channels to a broad audience for free.

Fee

The fee for this commission is 6K to include all costs of writing/producing the work.

Support

Derby Theatre can support in the producing of these works and connecting to creatives, actors and industry experts if required.

Deadline and Selection Process

The deadline to apply is Friday 14 May, 12pm.

We will shortlist by Thursday 20 May and inform all applicants of a yes or no by Friday 21 May.

For those we would to like to discuss the project with further, we will invite to a Zoom chat. We will ensure feedback is given to any unsuccessful applicant who interviews, but please bear with us in sending this.

Timeline

The work should be produced over summer 2021 to be launched by Derby Theatre in autumn 2021/spring 2022.
