Join the British Deaf Association (BDA) for a day of learning about Deaf Awareness & Culture, and also learn some of the basics of British Sign Language (BSL).
The workshops will help improve communication skills and confidence, helping break down the barriers faced by Deaf people and people with hearing loss.
You will be introduced to the unique culture of Deaf people which will help give you a deeper understanding of Deaf people and how to communicate.
Finally you will learn some basics of BSL, such as; alphabet, numbers and greeting signs.
To compliment your learning we recommend you visit the Deaf History & Heritage Museum which you can drop into anytime, for free, in the Upper Foyer at Derby Theatre, to see some of the images and artefacts from Deaf history.
