Venue: Departure Gate (Bistro)

BRITizenship is a contemporary odyssey as Zoo Indigo face their lack of Britishness and search for their European identity from the shores of Brexit-ridden Britain… British citizen Rosie Garton rediscovers her Irish heritage, German-Hungarian Ildiko Rippel explores her Hungarian roots, and Jewish musician Marks unearths his family’s flight from the Russian pogroms. In a series of trips across the continent the performers leave their homes in Britain to retrace their cultural heritage, singing songs, learning folk dances, and drinking local beverages.

These journeys culminate in a multi-media cabaret, of national anthems and popular music in Irish, English, Yiddish, German and Hungarian. Zoo Indigo will entertain with an array of original songs and cabaret acts, whilst completing the British Citizenship test live on stage, inviting their audience to also take the test on interactive voting pads. Exploring cultural heritage, citizenship and how British we really are (not)…
