JOB DESCRIPTION:

Job Title - Artistic Director (South)
Project - Reimagine CMAT Musical
Department - Creative Learning
Location - Derby/Derbyshire
Responsible to - Reimagine Producer 
Responsible for - Movement Director (South), Director (South)
Key relationships - Artistic Director (North), Writer, Musician/Composer, Reimagine Assistant Producer, CMAT Lead, School Teachers, Derby Theatre Technical Team.
Fee - £2550 – inclusive of planning, preparation and delivery for the rehearsal period and performance day. Plus travel expenses.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

There are 15 south schools, the Artistic Director, Director & Choreographer will each work with 5 schools, 10 young people from each, to independently direct/choregraph certain scenes/songs over the space of 3 weeks. The school music teachers will have worked with their students in advance of rehearsals starting to teach them the songs. The schools will then come together on Tuesday 28th June 2022, to perform together on the Main Stage at Derby Theatre.

The Artistic Director (South) will work closely with the Artistic Director (North), Writer & Musician/Composer to plan the direction and artistic vision for the musical. They will plan how the script/songs gets broken down between the 15 South schools who will perform together on the Derby Theatre Main Stage on 28th June 2022. They will work closely with the Director (South) and Movement Director (South) who are working in in the other schools to ensure cohesion across rehearsals. 

You should be a creative visionary with a passion for and experience in delivering community arts projects.  As the Artistic Director you will work with the artistic team to create and lead a culture that is inclusive, collaborative, safe and supportive; as well as artistically bold and ambitious.

W/C 16th May’22 – Planning meet with Producing team, Artistic Director (North), CMAT lead, Writer & Musician/Composer.

W/C 23rd or 30th May’22 – Planning meet with the South team: Movement Director & Director.

W/C 6th June’22 to W/C 20th June’22

- Wednesdays 9:30am-11:30am – Rehearsal St John Houghton, Ilkeston
- Wednesdays 1pm-3pm – Rehearsal St Thomas, Ilkeston
- Thursdays 9:30am-11:30am – Saint Benedict’s, Derby
- Fridays 9:30am-11:30am – Blessed Robert Sutton, Burton
- Fridays 1pm-3pm – Holy Rosary, Burton
- Tuesday 28th June’22 – Performance Day at Derby Theatre
