In an age where we increasingly play out our lives on the stage of the virtual world, Darknet, by Rose Lewenstein, addresses issues of how much and what we share online. Octopus Inc., an internet giant, encourages individuals to share personal data for currency. Make the wrong choices, and your balance goes down. Stacey cannot get medical help for her drug addiction for fear her Octoscore will go down. Kyla, her fourteen-year-old daughter, is forced to enter the dangerous and subversive world of the darknet to obtain methadone under the radar of Octopus Inc's watchful eye.

As characters desperatley try to navigate the messy world of human experience within the clinical percision of virtual ratings, the question is, how much do we really want to share? How much is our data worth? And can we choose to opt out?
