Derby CAN Community Voices Event: Come and Be a Part of Building Arts and Culture Events in Derby

Derby CAN
Digital Events , Community Events
Thursday 10 February 2022 - Friday 18 February 2022

Derby CAN wants to know what art and culture you want to see, take part in and enable you to produce in your own community hubs in Derby.

Do you want to be at the heart of organising what is happening in your area?

Do you want to voice an opinion about the type of things you would like to see or take part in?

Do you feel there is a need for specific types of art, music, performances, crafts, stories, nature trails or have your own ideas about what your area wants?

Maybe you just want to tell us about your area?

Then come along to the Derby CAN community voices event and we would love to hear!

What is it for?

In these community voices sessions Derby CAN are looking for your voice and opinion on what art and culture you want to see or feel is needed in your community.

These sessions are the start of a journey to put you in control of what you want to happen in community hubs we are going to create this year around the city. With the help of your communities, we are looking to:

- Create community hubs around the city with the communities of Derby at the heart of the work they produce.

- For you to be in control of what they schedule and events they hold.

- We want to know what art and cultural events you want to see happening in your area and what you would need us to do to help you make that possible.

Who is it for?

No prior experience in the arts is needed.

Maybe you want to try something new or just want to tell us your thoughts.

Perhaps you just want to keep up to date with your area and have a chat.

Maybe this is something that you are passionate about and have lots of ideas bubbling?

Maybe you want a career in the arts and this will help you gain skills and experience?

Either way all are welcome (aged 18+)

What will happen next after these sessions?

We have ideas on resources we can offer, opportunities involving you at the centre and how our CAN partners can help provide training and skills development in order to empower you to feel confident in running these hubs and bring your ideas to reality… but most importantly we want to hear from you and what you feel is needed to be able for you to be in control!

What is Derby CAN (Creative Arts Network)?

Derby CAN is a 3-year, multi-partner Arts Council England funded project along with Paul Hamlyn Foundation and University of Derby to work, co-curate and co-create with different communities, to support and strengthen the performing arts sector for everyone in the local area.

So come along and share your thoughts about the arts and culture you would love to see in your community. These sessions will be informal chats with the Derby CAN team.
