East Meets West is an exciting new symposium for Midlands-based theatre-makers. Created and brought to you by Little Earthquake, and generously supported by Arts Council England, mac and Derby Theatre, this two-day event will reduce the barriers and encourage collaboration between and within the East and West Midlands’ independent theatre-making communities.
Mobilising artists, companies, producers, programmers and venues from across the entire region, East Meets West will cement the foundations of a more proactive, open, democratic, supportive and vibrant community.
Expect inspirational talks, provocative discussions, and homegrown performances. You’ll be able to ask for support from The Human Search Engine, set creative challenges to solve together, and have the opportunity to design your ideal industry for the year 2022. All of this will help to inspire specific pledges to improve the way we all work together and ultimately, to increase the quality of what we are doing for audiences in the region.
Day one of the symposium will take place at mac in Birmingham on Wednesday 19 July 2017, and day two will take place at Derby Theatre on Thursday 20 July 2017, the launch day of the Departure Lounge Festival 2017.
East Meets West is free to attend, but delegate places must be booked in advance. Delegates wishing to attend the symposium are expected to attend both days.
Tickets are free but must be booked through Little Earthquake. Visit www.little-earthquake.com/eastmeetswest for more information and to book.
