Whether you’re part of a group or you’re an individual who just loves theatre, come and get involved.  We have lots of opportunities on offer, along with our Theatre Unwrapped programme around Derby Theatre productions, FREE for anyone to attend.

Theatre Unwrapped

At Derby Theatre we want to share the process of theatre-making with our audiences. Our FREE Theatre Unwrapped sessions, open to all ages, are designed to do just that. See what really goes on behind the scenes of making a production, covering everything from lighting design, set building, costume making and even watching the final technical rehearsals!

The Eagle Awards

Derby is fortunate to have one of the country's largest and most vibrant Amateur Theatre communities and awards, of a beautiful Eagle desaigned exclusively by Royal Crown Derby, are presented every year in July to individuals who have excelled in key areas. Amatur tanslates as "for the love of it" and The Eagle Awards celebrate, promote and recognise this love and the wonderful array of theatre it produces each year.

Hire a Costume or Prop

At Derby Theatre we hire costumes and props to professional, amateur, community theatre groups, schools and colleges. We have over 2500 costume pieces built up over many years and an eclectic selection of props, and we are always adding to our stock.

Technical advice and training

Led by professional theatre technicians, who can support your group, school or company, with lighting and sound design. They can help you make the most of your existing technical equipment or can advise on buying new equipment.

£30 an hour plus travel. Please contact us to book a date

Tea and tour

Come and look around backstage and meet members of the team to find out how the theatre works.
