Derby Theatre’s Christmas production team bring another magical and enchanting tale to the stage. With lashings of original music, heaps of colourful costumes and a super scrumptious talented team of actor-musicians, Hansel and Gretel cooks up a mouth-watering show.

A limited number of very special workshops are available to work on the set of the show alongside some of the actors from this year’s Christmas show. You will also get a sneaky peek behind the scenes.

The Derby Theatre Learning team can come to you. Some exciting warm up games will lead into a session where pupils take the main themes of Hansel and Gretel and use them as a starting point to create their own retelling of this classic tale.
We can even work with every class in your school to create a giant performance with everyone by the end of the day.

Spend a day at the theatre and learn new skills. Discover everything from costume and set design to lighting and sound, in an accessible and fun way. See backstage and make your own mini-production to be performed on stage. this workshop is accessible and fun!

We take some of the best-loved books for this age range as a starting poing (e.g. The Tiger That Came To Tea, We're Going On A Bear Hunt or Paper Dolls). Using imaginative play, storytelling, movement and drama games, this session brings these stories to life and helps the children to infer deeper meaning. Brilliant for developing communication, soical skills, self confidence, self-expression and group work.
Practical approaches and drama-based techniques will help plant the seed for life-long learning with these fun and accessible workshops. They enable students to read between the lines and unlock the language of Shakespeare by bringing his stories to life and inspiring them to learn about one of the most influential playwrights of all time.
