Using music, verbatim material and the children’s stories of going from the known to the unknown, Journeys of Destiny is a new play for young people and community audiences.

Meet Saad. Along with his family, he’s packed up his hopes and dreams – dreams like growing up with his friends or playing for Manchester United – into whatever he can carry. He is embarking on a journey that will change his world forever, a journey into the unknown.

Journeys of Destiny is a new play for young people and community audiences, which takes stories from all our families and weaves them with that of Saad Al-Kassab, a young Syrian refugee whose dreams had to change forever when war broke out in his city of Homs.

Using music, verbatim material and the children’s stories of going from the known to the unknown, be it changing schools, changing homes or changing countries, Journeys of Destiny explores what we need to take with us to keep us resilient, so we can navigate a world of change and achievement.

Young people from Derby Theatre Youth groups & young refugees in the city will be participating in this production alongside the Journeys of Destiny team of actors to tell this inspiring story.
