About The Symposium
The challenges of conducting practical research has been experienced by artists, theatre makers and academics alike.
At Derby Theatre and University of Derby we have created a unique practice through The Learning Theatre to facilitate research and create strong relationships between practitioners and academics.
We invite you to join us for our second highly successful Symposium to share our research findings that our students have developed during these challenging times.
Last year, our Applied Theatre Symposium focused on Black Lives Matter, the practices of building based theatres and the diversification of the curriculum in Higher Education.
We will be reflecting on the progress that has been achieved and will be joined by our PhD students revisiting these questions.
In addition, we will be exploring research themes that engage young people in activism, political organisation, skills development, and performance pedagogy.
Students will analyse their research offering new insight and generate discourse, and innovative practice for us all.
The symposium will be livestreamed online via Microsoft Teams. You will be sent a link to join on Teams after booking.
