A new pop-up miniature neighbourhood, bringing doorstep tales from around the world to just down your road.
Sunday 19 September, 12-5pm
Cathedral Green (Outside Museum of Making)
The event is free to attend (advance booking now open for a guaranteed time-slot to experience the installation)
Hello Neighbour, welcome to our street, we’re having a party and you’re invited!…
From sunrise mountains to outer space and joyous swimming to green fingered gardening, the neighbours on our street would love to spend a moment or two chatting with you about the things they love in life.
This new installation from Maison Foo sees artists and designers from around the world fuse together audio storytelling, visual art and new technologies to bring the tales and passions of neighbours currently seeking sanctuary in the UK to life.
The event is co-hosted by local friends in Derby currently seeking sanctuary. They’re planning an awesome party for you, with a programme of activities happening throughout the day (including a community feast!). So neighbour, why not join us for a community celebration like no other and let's meet!
This project has been commissioned by Derby Theatre, Attenborough Arts Centre, Migration Matters Festival and Journeys International Festival (ArtReach) and is supported using public funding by Arts Council England and The Big House European Regional Development Fund.
The launch event for Meet Your Neighbour is supported by The National Lottery Community Fund and brought to you in partnership with Derby Museums, Derby LIVE and Derby Theatre.
With huge thanks to:
Derby Refugee Advice, Upbeat Communities and City of Sanctuary, Quad and Deda for their support.
