Become a Student Ambassador!

Have you seen that we are recruiting for new Student Ambassadors? Want to get involved but not sure what it's all about? Well here is all the info you need...

If you are currently at, or will be coming to the University of Derby this year, and have a passion for the arts then don’t miss this opportunity to kick-start your career with us...

What is a Student Ambassador?

The role of a Student Ambassador is to help to promote Derby Theatre to fellow students in Derby and the general public. Working primarily with the Marketing Team, key responsibilities include things like helping us spread the word on social media, flyering print around halls or at University, helping out at events such as Freshers Fairs and attending key events such as Press Nights.

What’s in it for me?

We create tailored development plans or projects for each ambassador, based on your particular areas of interest, which you will work towards throughout the year. In the past we have had ambassadors do projects in film-making and video, music, learning, reviewing and blogging, acting and directing, marketing campaigns and more! It's such a great chance to shadow and work with other departments in the venue as well as supporting the marketing team with the promotion of Derby Theatre.

We provide complimentary tickets to certain shows and all Press Nights, as well as the chance to go into the rehearsal room to see shows in development before they play on our stages. We also provide the chance to attend 'Meet & Greets' with the cast & creatives of produced shows, training & workshops, and opportunities to be part of sessions such as our student programming group - allowing you to have your say in which touring shows come to Derby.

The role is volunatry but as you can see, in return we offer loads of opportunities to go behind the scenes and really get involved!

You will leave the programme having had practical work experience in the arts, unique opportunities and contacts for your future.

But what do the Ambassadors really think?

‘It's been a wonderful experience and if you have the chance I would definitely say go for it!’ – Charlie, current Student Ambassador

‘Being a student ambassador has helped me to gain additional knowledge outside of my degree.’ – Ellie, current Student Ambassador

‘My favourite part of the scheme would be being able to watch shows for FREE!’ – Sam, Previous Student Ambassador
