Ben Anderson joins Derby Theatre as Creative Producer for In Good Company
Derby Theatre is delighted to announce that Ben Anderson will join the team in the role of Creative Producer, a role with specific responsibility to manage the Theatre’s In Good Company artist development programme.
Ben’s fixed term contract will oversee the completion of the current programme (which ends in August). The Partners are currently fundraising for the programme to continue.
In Good Company, through Ben’s leadership and management of the scheme, will continue to provide mentorship, business support, facilities and high profile
performance opportunities for emerging artists, and will support them in attempting to establish links with organisations who will contract them and programme their work.
Ben has most recently worked at international contemporary dance agency Dance4 in Nottingham, with his main areas of responsibility including: co-ordinating large scale events, international exchanges, residencies and performances. During his time at Dance4 Ben was also the Assistant Producer on the international biennial festival, Nottdance in 2017.
Ben trained as an actor at Bath Spa University and has since made, produced and directed a number of his own works. He has also held various roles in a wide range of independent and publicly funded organisations across the sector, both locally and nationally including Somewhereto_, Nottingham Lakeside Arts, Nottingham Playhouse, Nonsuch and the Egg Theatre.
“I’m incredibly proud to now lead In Good Company (IGC). This flagship programme puts the East Midlands on the map nationally, highlighting what an incredibly vibrant, creative and magnificent place it is to make, create and shape the future of theatre. IGC has a reputation as one of the friendliest and most approachable programmes, yet where you’ll find theatre of the most challenging nature, pushing the boundaries of what a theatrical experience can be. I’m very excited to develop this in the future.
I'm particularly looking forward to meeting many artists from across the region over the coming months, at both our Check-In festival at Attenborough Arts Centre and, of course, Departure Lounge festival at Derby Theatre in July.”
Sarah Brigham (Artistic Director and Chief Executive, Derby Theatre) said:
“I'm absolutely thrilled that we'll be working with Ben. In Good Company continues to be an incredibly successful, exciting and ambitious scheme to redefine how we connect with artists across the East Midlands and beyond. Ben is an incredibly exciting up-and-coming producer, with a brilliant knowledge of, and experience in, the arts and artists in our region. I am delighted he will be joining the team here at Derby Theatre and I look forward to seeing how his new ideas come to fruition and the impact he will have on our community of regional artists.”
