Influence Cast Member Harry

Hi, I’m Harry, and I’m a member of Derby Theatre’s Youth Theatre. I play Bobby in our current production: Influence.

We have been rehearsing since March, for our shows, which take place on the 26th and 27th of July. Rehearsals are going very well, with lots of progress being made each week – but we still have time for a few games of Wa-Hah!

I originally joined Youth Theatre in 2016, when I was 13 (in Year 8). I joined because I wanted to develop my acting skills, rather than Musical Theatre – which is what I did before joining DYT.

I have learnt important team working skills, and how to work as an ensemble – which is one of the most important aspects of acting.

As I’ve progressed through groups, I have made new friends each year and met new people and creatives within the theatre.

Youth Theatre has allowed me to develop my understanding of theatre – and especially what makes Derby Theatre a Learning Theatre.

For Influence, we have been having a few Saturday rehearsals, as well as our usual Sunday rehearsals.

This gives me, and the rest of the cast, the chance to meet, catch up, and work with the other youth theatre group, who have devised a Response Piece to Influence, the'Curtain Raiser', which will play on the same night, before Influence. It looks great!

They have included the use of video throughout their piece, which makes it really fun, and different.

I hope you get to come and see our 2 brand new shows which promise to be a hit on the 26th and 27th July!
