Invitation to Tender: D/deaf-Friendly Youth Theatre Leader

Derby Theatre is looking for an individual to develop and lead a new D/deaf-Friendly Youth Theatre: a fully accessible theatre group for young people aged 11-18 who are deaf, deafened or hard of hearing, and their friends/siblings.

Contract

The contract is available for six months, to commence on Wednesday 26 September 2018.

Twelve workshops, of ninety minutes in length, to be delivered fortnightly across two terms. In addition, there will be up to four development days with the Creative Learning Team, two extra rehearsals and a performance day, with a fee of £80/per workshop and £140/per day available.

Interviews will take place on Tuesday 11 September at Derby Theatre and may include delivery of a short workshop with young people.

Dates

The D/deaf-Friendly Youth Theatre will run fortnightly over 2 terms, 5pm - 6:30pm, on the following dates:

Autumn Term (2018)

Wednesday 26 September, Wednesday 10 October, Wednesday 24 October, Wednesday 7 November, Wedneaday 21 November and Wednesday 5 December

Spring Term (2019)

Wednesday 16 January, Wednesday 30 January, Wednesday 13 Febraury, Wednesday 27 February, Wednesday 13 March and Wednesday 27 March

1 or 2 extra rehearsals may be required, which have been factored into the contract.

Performance Date: a sharing of the work created will take place during a Family Open Day at Derby Theatre on Saturday 16 March 2019. Time TBC.

You may also be required to attend 1 or 2 meetings with the Youth Theatre Leader & Creative Learning Department, to support the development of the Deaf-Friendly Youth Theatre. Dates are flexible.
