Jenny Langlands appointed new Executive Director

Derby Theatre is thrilled to announce that Jenny Langlands will join the organisation, as part of the leadership team, in the role of Executive Director.

Jenny, who will take up her position at the Theatre mid-July, has held a range of fundraising and management roles within the cultural sector, working for a range of organisations including: artsdepot in London, National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, Dance Base in Edinburgh and most recently as Interim Chief Executive at Oldham Coliseum.

During her time at Dance Base, where she held the position of Chief Executive, Jenny was instrumental in establishing a number of high quality learning and participatory programmes including:  Lothians Youth Dance Company, Junior Conservatoire Contemporary Dance (in partnership with Royal Conservatoire Scotland); Frantic Assembly's Ignition programme and Dance for Parkinsons Scotland (DfPS), in partnership with Scottish Ballet. DfPS is now a programme of national significance and delivered in hubs across Scotland. Additionally, Jenny was a Trustee of Access All Areas, an award-winning learning disabled theatre company in London.

Jenny’s role at Derby Theatre will involve her managing and developing the financial strategy and business plan for the Theatre, in line with its artistic vision. Jenny will work closely with Sarah Brigham, Chief Executive and Artistic Director, and she will be a member of the Theatre’s Leadership Team.

Jenny said:
"Derby Theatre is an ambitious organisation which places learning at its heart. I am excited to be joining Sarah and the team, and working with them to continue to build on the success of their pioneering Learning Theatre model."

Sarah Brigham said:
“I am delighted to welcome Jenny to the organisation.  She has a great track record of working at a senior level at arts organisations across the UK, and I think her experience will be invaluable to us as we continue to grow and develop our ambition as a producing house in the heart of Derby with learning and artist development at our core.  Jenny also shares our values of ensuring theatre really is for everyone and I’m looking forward to embarking on the next exciting phase with her on the leadership team.”
