Adapted by award winning playwright S. Shakthidharan
Subhi is a refugee. Born in an Australian permanent detention centre, life behind the fences is all he has ever known. But as he grows, his imagination gets bigger too.
One night, Jimmie, a scruffy, impatient girl appears from the other side of the wires, and brings a notebook written by the mother she lost. Unable to read it, she relies on Subhi to unravel her own family's mysterious and moving history.
Subhi and Jimmie might both find a way to freedom, as their tales unfold. But not until each of them has been braver than ever before.
Tuesday 22 - Saturday 26 March 2022
Presented by Yvonne Arnaud Theatre
The Office meets Lord of the Flies meets Miranda!
Sheila’s Island is a sparkling, sharp-witted new comedy from writer Tim Firth (Calendar Girls, Kinky Boots, The Band), starring Olivier Award winner Sara Crowe (Private Lives, Calendar Girls, Four Weddings and a Funeral), and Judy Flynn (The Brittas Empire, Dinnerladies).
It's Pennine Mineral Water Ltd.’s annual outward bound team-building weekend. Somehow, Sheila has been nominated team leader, and, using her cryptic crossword solving skills, has unwittingly stranded her team on an island in the Lake District.
Tuesday 19 - Saturday 23 April 2022
Present by Bill Kenwright Ltd
After a sell-out run in 2019, Willy Russell's legendary musical returns to Derby Theatre.
Blood Brothers tells the captivating and moving tale of twins who, separated at birth, grow up on opposite sides of the tracks, only to meet again with fateful consequences.
Few musicals have received quite such acclaim as the multi-award-winning Blood Brothers. Bill Kenwright’s production surpassed 10,000 performances in London’s West End, one of only three musicals ever to achieve that milestone.
The superb score includes Bright New Day, Marilyn Monroe and the emotionally charged hit Tell Me It’s Not True.
