University of Derby - Call Out For Actors

The University of Derby is looking for actors who would be willing to take part in rehearsed readings in Derby Theatre’s studio. The readings will be extracts of scripts (inc. film, TV, theatre and radio) written by the MA Writing for Performance students. This gives the students a brilliant opportunity to hear their work read out loud and to discuss it, which they find invaluable.

All actors who take part will receive a free theatre ticket to see one of Derby Theatre’s fantastic forthcoming shows. There will be a choice between Mike Leigh’s hilarious Abigail’s Party and Abi, the specially written contemporary response to it by Atiha Sen Gupta. In addition, all participants will also receive a £30 shopping voucher and those who attend a full day of rehearsed readings will have lunch provided.

The readings take place on Tuesday 26, Wednesday 27 and Thursday 28 June from 10am to 5:30pm (There are roles available for actors who are not available for a full day). There will be short rehearsals on Monday 25 June or Thursday the 21 of June.

Each actor will be required to attend 1 rehearsal day only and 1 of the 3 rehearsed reading days.

Please get in touch with Lorna Gangaidzo by Friday 8 June at L.Gangaidzo@derby.ac.uk if you would like to take part and have availability on any of the dates - and please do spread so the word!
