The Jungle Book

Join Mowgli as he plays in the colourful jungle, battles the ruthless tiger Shere Khan and with the help of his best friends Baloo and Bagheera, discovers what it really means to belong.

Inspired by Rudyard Kipling’s magical stories, with brand-new original songs, The Jungle Book promises to be the perfect adventure for all the family this Easter. 

All performances of this brand new Derby Theatre show will have fully integrated BSL interpretation and Captioning, and will also be Audio Described.

School Tickets: £10 each (with one teacher free with every ten tickets purchased)

For D/deaf and hearing participants, we wil explore the physicality and the "laws" of the Jungle through the power of non-verbal communication. For theatre-based workshops, pupils may also get to go on stage (date dependent)

Thursday 18 April after the 1:30pm performance

A chance to see key moments from The Jungle Book replayed, with input from the pupils so that they can become directors and give the actors something new to try - on the spot!

Discover Days

Discover and do with theatre professionals

Spend a day at the theatre and learn new skills. Discover everything from costume and set design to lighting and sound, in an accessible and fun way. See backstage and make your own mini-production to be performed on stage.  this workshop is accessible and fun!

Open up a world of creativity and imagination in your classroom. Taking a story or a play that you're studying as a starting point, our professional creatives will work with your class to unlock design ideas for props, costume and scenery.

Story Explorers

We take some of the best-loved books for this age range as a starting poing (e.g. The Tiger That Came To Tea, We're Going On A Bear Hunt or Paper Dolls). Using imaginative play, storytelling, movement and drama games, this session brings these stories to life and helps the children to infer deeper meaning. Brilliant for developing communication, soical skills, self confidence, self-expression and group work.

Practical approaches and drama-based techniques will help plant the seed for life-long learning with these fun and accessible workshops. They enable students to read between the lines and unlock the language of Shakespeare by bringing his stories to life and inspiring them to learn about one of the most influential playwrights of all time.
