Separate Doors is coming to Derby Theatre with its national integrated ensemble of 13 actors with, and without, learning disabilities and neuro-diversities. 

Working on four new short plays by writers Elizabeth Kuti, Lydia Marchant, Sarah Middleton and Lou Ramsden the company will host workshops and invite theatre professionals, students, and makers to learn about our unique way of making theatre for everyone – the Silent Approach.

Relaxed Silent Approach Workshop – Wednesday 12 January 11:30am – 12:30pm

Venue: Derby Theatre

Separate Doors' Artistic Director Ness Brooks will lead the creative team and national ensemble actors in a Silent Approach warm up and then explore some of the performance – the song, movement, action sequences and the sounds that you will hear.

You will learn about:

Our non-verbal rehearsal room practice, The Silent Approach.

Some of the things that will happen in the performance.

The music and the movement in the performance.

The actors playing some of the characters.

Who is this workshop for?

This workshop is for everyone aged 14 up and especially for:

- Learning disability groups and companies.

- Older audience members.

- Anyone likely to be triggered by loud noises or strong language or violence.

Tickets are free but spaces are limited, please book in advance.

All attendees will also receive a free ticket for the performance at 1.45pm on Wednesday, 12 January. You must book your tickets for the performance here
